Health Agency Prepares Vaccination Sites Outside School

In order to accommodate children whose age meet the criteria for vaccination but haven't yet entered elementary school level, Jakarta Health Agency has prepared COVID-19 vaccination locations for children aged 6-11 years outside school.

Some of them have completed PAUD but not yet entered elementary school. So, we must prepare locations to accommodate those children to access vaccination

Jakarta Health Agency Head, Widyastuti said, outside of school, her side planned to hold vaccination for children  aged 6-11 years in health centers, hospitals, public service areas, RT/RW, and malls.

"Not all six-year-olds go to school. Some of them have completed PAUD but not yet entered elementary school. So, we must prepare locations to accommodate those children to access vaccination," she explained, Tuesday (12/21).

She admitted that not all malls facilitated vaccination for children aged 6-11 years. Therefore, her side prepared a team and collaborators to open vaccination center outside schools, such as in health facilities or other public spaces.

However, vaccination for children aged 6-11 years is still a priority because data collection of vaccination participants will be faster and easier. In addition, School Children's Immunization Month (BIAS) activity which is routinely held at schools will make it easier for children to take a part in COVID-19 vaccination since they are accustomed to immunization injections. Then psychologically, class teachers and parents can be companions.

"Students when gather with their peer group, fellow students, or children of their age are usually not afraid to be vaccinated. When it turns into routine or regular activity, surely it will be easier for us. Psychology, there are also teachers and parents who accompany the children, with teachers, data will be more completed," she conveyed.

The following are requirements for current COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years in Jakarta:

1. For vaccination in schools within Jakarta Province, vaccination targets are students who attend the vaccination site, both Jakarta residents and non-Jakarta residents.

2. For vaccination which conducted not in schools, vaccination targets are children aged 6-11 years in Jakarta who are limited to:

a. Children with status of Jakarta residents by showing Family Card (KK) or Child Identity Card (KIA) which includes address in Jakarta area;

b. Children who are non-Jakarta residents and not registered as students in Educational Unit in Jakarta, but reside in Jakarta by showing domicile certificate from RT based on their address in Jakarta area and have been registered in citizen data application.

For information, there are 1.1 million children aged 6-11 years who have been registered in Basic Education Data (Dapodik).
